MOTU 828x interface troubles - anyone have any ideas?
So just recently my interface stopped responding and 'interfacing' with my computer. When I turn it on [with my computer off] it starts making this clicking sound through my speakers that seems to coincide with the from panel screen flashing - which would normally just stay lit up when I turned it o...

Re: So what are you doing now, with all this extra time?"
Speaking of such things, I've been reconfiguring my space back to using the Tascam 388, 8 tracks on quarter inch. 300 bux a reel for messing around doesn't make much sense. The mids on this thing are atrocious however, even just passing signal. I'm also learning to play bass. Not sure what to think...

Acoustic Folk Punk - quarantine style (video)
I have about 100 songs that I want to play/record a version of like this over the next month or so, to practice/prepare for a new album/EP that I'm going to be recording soon. This song will be on it, it's called "Covered In Glass". I'll be adding stuff to my youtube almost daily if anyone...

Royalty Information
I just got an email from BMI about royalty check distribution, and how this pandemic might catch up to everything first quarter 2021 - meaning there might not be enough money to pay everyone at that point. Does anyone have any more information on the long term effects of this whole situation?

The point that I was pretending to have is that we should elect people and candidates, not political parties.

Re: de bait
"third party" still implies a two party centric system. Remove political affiliation from the ballots and see how the general population votes.. I'm surprised that this is such a difficult concept to grasp.

Re: de bait
I 100% agree with you there, one side is very obviously worse, but the problem is only having two "sides". Decisions are made out of loyalty and spite, rather than concern and regard for actual policy. Again, that is far more true for one particular party and it's supporters, but at this p...

Re: de bait
I do care about politics, but at the same time I hate it, along with pretty much all of the politicians. It baffles me that we - as citizens - still entertain the notion of delegating important* decisions to people who are very clearly incompetent, unknowledgable and greedy, with the best interests ...

Re: Mixing multiple projects at the same time
But I'll also add: if a band has a production vision that can lead you to a better mix, then by all means let them do it. You just need to know if/when you will have to translate 'their terms' into actual mix decisions.

Yes, while it may be absurd, and of course I won't try to distort clarinet, but if I listen to something for a long time, it starts to sound "right" and I need some time to refresh my hearing. I have learned I need to take breaks every hour or so when working on something for this very re...

Who is "we"? The Democrats blew it big last time by shunning Bernie. It's time for the two party system to go, and a serious overhaul of our entire political structure.

After some cleaning and editing, I ended up with the impulses I attach here. I actually quite liked what I got! Pro Tools just had a BYPASS button for every plug in so I always use that ANYWAY, not the one built in to the individual manufactruer’s interface. Holy shit, I never thought much about it, but it never clicked for me that there was a "pro tools bar" on top of every plugin. I always use th...

Re: Recording to tape questions
Hey thanks for the feedback. I'm going to look into getting the 388 fixed just because I like it, but a 1/2" 4 track is what I was leaning towards anyway, so I think I'll plan on getting one of those as well at some point. Any particular models to look out for/avoid?

Recording to tape questions
So, I love the workflow and sound of recording to tape in any format, but I recently realized that I don't know that much about it. So I was hoping I could start a thread that I could ask some questions about it as they come to me, and get some reliable answers. I've had a tascam 388 for almost 20 y...

Re: Drum Recording Dissertation - Overheads And Phase Coherency
I love these types of threads. You have any more recent drum tracking stories weedy?
Also, if you were recording a grunge-ish indie/rock/punk type of band, would you still go with your 5 [4-6] mic setup, or would you opt for using more close mics on everything?

Re: Something new from Waves
I ended up buying this for $27, the EQ section is my favorite with the fully adjustable shelves on every band. I've been looking for this ever since the original Abbey Road plugins were discontinued - I think this covers the original bundle pretty well, except for the RS124. Now if only someone woul...

Thanks Bob, I tried to reinstall my software but no luck. I went with v3 for pretty much the reason you stated, and everything is working fine again. I have no idea, but I wonder how is it possible that v3 uses too much power? If it's really "too much" it should get hot. I have no idea abo...

iLok2 vs. iLok3 ?
I've had an iLok2 for about 5 or so years, and recently I've been having some problems with my computer/software not recognizing it. If I unplug it for a while it will work, but I feel like it's only a matter of time before it gives out for good, so I'm gonna get a new one to transfer my licenses ju...

Heard about this today, and after looking over the features I'm very excited to try it. I was a very big fan of the old [non-waves] Abbey Road bundle, and this looks to be pretty similar to that at least in terms of functionality. Gonna give it a try soon.

Re: Attentioon Weedy - aqbout Cyndi's country album....?
Mostly Sound Emporium. A bit at Front Stage. And mixed at Blackbird. 2 rough mixes made it to the record. One from the first day at Front Stage and one from Sound Emporium on the day we added backing vocals. You ever tracked any albums at Blackbird? From what I've heard they have a pretty nice coll...
