Re: True Peaks
Look into "inter-sample peaks". Yep. The ITU/EBU spec for TV programme delivery is -24LKFS, with -2dBTP. Not complying is expensive. Cheers, Tim PS. Nobby, your flashing peak LEDs happen because of level - duh - and rise time. I think that peak meters have a rise time of 300 microseconds,...

Nude microphones
Adverts for these mics are popping up quite regularly in my farcebook feed.
Anybody here taken a punt on one?
Experiences? Critiques?
Enquiring minds want to know.

Some years back I did a rock guitar instrumental version of Drunken Sailor for a documentary, and it became known to everyone in the post-production area as "The Inebriated Mariner."

It's got a separate algorithmic reverb that can blend with the impulse response, as well as modulation of the IR. Nothing too revolutionary. I've been using Altiverb for years, and I had no idea about that. The Allaire impulses are nice in Altiverb, as are some of the concert halls and cathedrals. ...

Ok.
Can somebody point me to the old drums?
I can have a go at that...
Is there a guide that will sync up with it?
Also...didn't we change key at some point to accommodate our singer?
Cheers,
Tim

At least they are acknowledging that now.
The rest of the world knew that ages ago.

Tough situation. First of all, if you want to stay in this group, put your foot down about where the material that you have to work on is located...dropbox etc. Make sure there is only ONE location for this stuff, and that the material that is in there is given a date or a version number so there is...

I'd not heard of backwards mastering, but I did read about making safeties of the 2" in reverse to allegedly preserve transients...but I'm pretty sure I read it in Mix magazine - so all bets are off.

Re: Adding room ambiance to drum recordings
You could get really cute funny and fresh by sending each drum down one at a time! Allegedy the Power Station record from the 80's was done that way...each drum fired into the stairwell and recorded. I've done it by doing 2 passes - all the close mics, then the overheads. It worked well enough given...

I have a range of about three-and-a-half notes in the key of H Blunt on a good day...
Trust me...you don't want the vocal any edgier than this.
The key was determined by where the intro guitar part fell on the fretboard.

Thanks. I don't think there was a specific incident that the 200 daily dead refers to. So yeah...the drums - BFD2 - and keys were programmed by me, but the keys were hardware as opposed to soft-synths. The guitars and bass were real, as was the vocal. No autotune, because I didn't have it. This was ...
