Re: Andrew Yang
And when they "reclaim the VAT" how much of that gets kicked back to the customer, who actually paid for it? I would guess ZERO. "Trickle down" economics doesn't work. Companies treat such kickbacks as a windfall and use it for their own purposes - it never gets back to the cust...

Re: Andrew Yang
Sales taxes in the US are state and local; they are used to pay for state and local services. Services and incomes aren't equal in different regions. There's nothing you can do to recoup more revenue through sales taxes because people are already paying what the market will bear. A dangerously larg...

Re: Andrew Yang
So does VAT. You don't think those middlemen who have to pay VAT at each level of distribution don't pass the expense on? That's like Rump claiming that tariffs aren't ultimately paid by the US consumer. Or that Mexico will pay for "The Wall". In fact, it's the same damn thing except for ...

Re: well, it's been months since we took the House.
I don't agree that their stance on some major issues were "the same", just as Biden isn't where Warren is on some issues that are major for me but still, whoever wins the primary gets my vote. I was thinking the same. And their track records are poles apart. If you didn't know, you wouldn...

Re: well, it's been months since we took the House.
Who is "we"? The Democrats blew it big last time by shunning Bernie. It's time for the two party system to go, and a serious overhaul of our entire political structure. I disagree, with what I believe is ample evidence. Just look at the mess that Italy (and similar countries) make of thei...

Yeah, it's not as if anyone's careers are on the line here.

Re: When A Band's References Don't Fit...
From the verbal description it sounds like what the band needs, and what you could provide for them, is an arranger and producer. They seem like tree surgeons unable to get an overview of the forest who need a forest ranger to tell them to evacuate ahead of the fire. The question is: Would they be ...

Re: When A Band's References Don't Fit...
Well unless their music is based around a Rickenbacker 12 string they’re not going to sound much like The Byrds. Yep. Everything from the composition, instrumentation, arrangement to gear is at odds with how they hear themselves. Which is fine, I don't want to sound too much like I'm bitching (thou...

Re: When A Band's References Don't Fit...
Actually, I learned that the band's ideas as awkward as what they may seem can be "right". And also you don't have to treat references literally, what they after can be an overall vibe, not the exact sound. It's hard to get into their heads but that's what you have to do... Yeah, that's w...

Re: When A Band's References Don't Fit...
The question makes me think you aren't charging them by the hour. Without hearing it, the solution would seem to be to do it over from scratch. Avoid the temptation to cut the brake lines of their van -- the police will probably be able to figure out who done it. No, I'm not charging them, I'm frie...

When A Band's References Don't Fit...
I recorded a friend's band before Christmas. Total clusterfuck, no setup time so there was crazy bleed to deal with from not being ale to move players around, cables everywhere in a tiny room... managed to get something kinda okay sounding out of it though and sent off my mixes. Then it turns out th...

Here's 21 knobs and long-ass faders (27" Retina display though...) https://i.imgur.com/gppyE1a.png I use this as a controller. They're dirt cheap: https://images.reverb.com/image/upload/s--csbLhYR8--/a_exif,c_limit,e_unsharp_mask:80,f_auto,fl_progressive,g_south,h_620,q_90,w_620/v1435331103/mta...

Re: CLAMixHub
You use REAPER, right?
I don't see how it is better than fx track control knobs, especially as they aren't limited to 8 tracks at a time and you aren't limited to Waves plugs..
For other DAWs I could see it being a workflow enhancer.

Great Weedywet Interview!
I just discovered the Gear Club Podcast, and there's 2 hours of interview with Weedy. https://www.gear-club.net/episodes/2017/6/12/15-capture-the-moment-with-william-wittman-part-1 Some nuggets of gold in there. I really loved the way he articulated the difference between listening for what's right ...

Re: Drum Recording Dissertation - Overheads And Phase Coherency
Wow, super punchy yet spacious. Did you mix this? Was there any additional reverb on the drums besides the room mic's? I mixed it, thanks. I'll be honest that I don't 100% remember, but i very much doubt there's any added reverb on the drums. it's rare for me. here's an even 'bigger' sound (which c...
