Referring to the evil-gelical situation in the US.

Scratch the surface and you'll find that Kavanaugh, Barr, Devin Nunes, Pompeo, Mulvaney, Donald McGahn, Jay Sekulow and many, many more are all part of a conspiracy to end the separation between church and state and ram their ignorance down the throat of America.

And they either are too stupid to know that Trump is only pretending to be religious because that's a main source of his support, or they don't care as long as he keeps stuffing the courts with judges who would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, etc.

No amount of treason or corruption is too much to save the zygotes.

Attorney General William P. Barr’s speech to the Federalist Society on Friday had many disturbing elements: Barr set out a dangerously inflated view of presidential power. He inveighed against judges for “usurping presidential decision-making authority” and appointing themselves “the ultimate arbiter” of disputes between the president and Congress. He dismissed the role of congressional oversight — what he termed the “constant harassment” of the executive branch.
Oblivious to his own double standards, Barr decried Democrats’ “unprecedented abuse of the advice-and-consent process” and “pursuit of scores of parallel ‘investigations’ through an avalanche of subpoenas.”
Remember Merrick Garland? Remember Benghazi?

Apparently not. “Today,” Barr instructed us, “Congress is increasingly quick to dismiss good-faith attempts to protect executive branch equities, labeling such efforts ‘obstruction of Congress’ and holding Cabinet secretaries in contempt.” Remind me what party was in charge of the House when it held then-Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. in contempt for refusing to turn over documents relating to the botched “Fast and Furious” gun operation?

But the most revealing part of Barr’s speech was its angrily partisan tone, an us-vs.-them belligerence unbefitting the nation’s chief law enforcement officer. No doubt, the attorney general — any attorney general — is a political appointee. He or she has a proper role as a political ally of the president, and in implementing and promoting the president’s chosen policies.
As the nation’s chief law enforcement officer, however, the attorney general also stands separate from and above the ordinary Cabinet secretary, able to impartially administer justice, without regard to political considerations. While other Cabinet secretaries may campaign for political candidates, it has been the practice of attorneys general to refrain from such partisan activity.

Certainly, attorneys general have ideological points of view, and they are permitted to express and, where appropriate, implement them. Edwin Meese III, President Ronald Reagan’s attorney general, famously used a series of speeches to lay out a theory of constitutional interpretation — the “jurisprudence of original intent” — and outline the administration’s plans to promote that approach in litigating cases.

Barr’s speech was something different, and scarier. He didn’t just disagree with “the other side,” as he tellingly described those with whom disagrees. He vilified them. Barr summarily rejected claims that the Trump administration has shredded constitutional norms and ignored the rule of law. When pressed for specifics, Barr said, the administration’s critics respond only with “vacuous stares, followed by sputtering about the travel ban or some such thing.”
This should not go unrebutted, although it would take a full column to do Trump’s excesses justice, but let me proffer a few, lest I be accused of joining the vacuous starers: attacking federal judges; ignoring congressional subpoenas and instructing underlings not to cooperate with the impeachment inquiry; having his lawyers declare that he is absolutely immune not only from indictment but also from investigation; telling aides to have the special counsel investigating him fired on bogus conflict-of-interest grounds; misleading federal courts about why he wanted to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census.

Oh, and holding up aid to an ally in an effort to secure an investigation of his Democratic rival.

But Barr went beyond a defense of the president he serves to an attack on their political opponents. “The fact of the matter is that, in waging a scorched-earth, no-holds-barred war of ‘resistance’ against this administration, it is the left that is engaged in the systematic shredding of norms and the undermining of the rule of law,” Barr said. The “holy mission” of “so-called progressives,” he said, “is to use the coercive power of the state to remake man and society in their own image, according to an abstract ideal of perfection. . . . They are willing to use any means necessary to gain momentary advantage in achieving their end, regardless of collateral consequences and the systemic implications.”

By contrast, he said, “conservatives tend to have more scruple over their political tactics and rarely feel that the ends justify the means. And this is as it should be, but there is no getting around the fact that this puts conservatives at a disadvantage when facing progressive holy war, especially when doing so under the weight of a hyper-partisan media.”

The other side isn’t just wrong; it is a dangerous enemy arrayed against virtuous conservatives. Listen to this and ask yourself how you would feel if you were a young, liberal law student considering whether to take a position in this Justice Department? How would you feel if you were a veteran prosecutor in a U.S. Attorney’s office, one who vehemently disagrees with the positions of this administration but believes in the mission of enforcing the criminal law for the protection of the public good? Would you feel as though William Barr’s Justice Department has a place for you?

This is the language of an ideological warrior, not an attorney general.

Several states – including Ohio, Texas and Mississippi – have ruled that all abortions should be considered nonessential procedures and must be delayed during the coronavirus crisis.
In Texas, providers can be fined or jailed for violating the order.
Abortion rights groups have criticized the moves, calling an abortion an essential service.

It would be pretty difficult for it to be worse thatn I think, actually. Haven't I been boring people for months about how Trump is following Hitler's playbook, at least as far as his shortcomings allow him?

Since Covid broke he has been doing his absolute best to weaponize the virus against his political opponents - and by this I mean the voting population in as many blue areas (especially blue areas in red states) as he can.

One of my more paranoid ideas about this is that the virus very well be at least partially artificial in origin. No, not by the Chinese as so many (mostly right winger) propagandists have been spreading. The Chinese are victims just as we are, and are also major US trading partners. No, it's someone else.

What's the name of that country that is an historical enemy of both China and the USA? And is also very advanced in unconventional warfare technologies, such as chemical and biological? And has a vested interest in rigging this year's election? And is known for carrying out black ops on other country's territory? Using "unconventional" weapons? In fact uses such weapons as something of a trademark?

Could it possibly be.... RUSSIA?

But Putin and Trump are good friends! Er..... wait a minute......

Then again, I might just be being paranoid again.

What do YOU think?

I think it's one HELL of a way to rig an election.

We're really and truly fucked.

Of course. Religion has ALWAYS been an enabler for corruption, going way, way back to the days of Babylon, if not long before.

You should have heard my daddy, who was a scholar in such matters, go on about it...

Nope. Don't listen to Republican-Russian propaganda or those who mindlessly parrot it, including some mainstream media folks.

WEDNESDAY, March 18, 2020 (HealthDay News) -- Despite internet rumors to the contrary, the new coronavirus arose from natural causes and was not concocted in a lab, according to scientists who conducted a detailed genomic examination of the virus.

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 illness, shows zero evidence of being artificially engineered, reported a team who published their findings March 17 in Nature Medicine.

"By comparing the available genome sequence data for known coronavirus strains, we can firmly determine that SARS-CoV-2 originated through natural processes," study co-author Kristian Andersen, an associate professor of immunology and microbiology at Scripps Research, said in an institute news release.

The research was a collaborative, international effort: Andersen was joined by scientists from Columbia University in New York City, the University of Sydney in Australia, and Tulane University in New Orleans.

HMMmmmm.... I don't think you quite understood what I was getting at - perhaps I should have been more explicit.

I wasn't saying that the Chinese had anything to do with creating the virus, unlike what the right-wingers are spouting. And my thoughts aren't affected by anything except raw news and my talent for observation and spotting patterrns.

Now, understand that this is just conjecture resulting from observation - I'm not presenting it as fact, but I'm saying that if it were found to be true I wouldn't be a bit surprised and it would probably warranty investigation after we get rid of Trump, because it damn sure won't happen before. If I worked for the CIA as an analyst this would be an analytical report on an interpretation of a situation.

However there's one thing that makes me think it's possible - I DON'T LIKE COINCIDENCES! And when the coincidences are multiple and sometimes unlikely I get REALLY suspicious.

Have you guessed yet?

To me, there's a lot of "soft" data that points to the Russians. What large country in the world is known as an enemy of both China and the US, and is deeply jealous of their mutual commercial success? Especially considering their own bad and deteriorating position on the stage of world commerce? What country has a history of using "unconventional" and internationally banned weapons on a regular basis, albeit usually in a semi-clandestine manner in small operations carried out by their intelligence apparat, and is currently ruled by a former officer in that organization? What country currently owns the US President, and is able to influence him to react the the most boneheaded and obstructionist way possible? And I ask you, what better way to totally screw with the US Presidential Election this fall?

The difference between poisoning a political defector with an exotic isotope or very rare nerve toxin and crashing the world economy, in particular Russia's two long term enemies while totally disrupting The Election by employing a self replicating biological agent is really only a matter of scale when you've got a large country's resources and considerable military-scientific establishment to work with.

And remember that Putin is a chess master. And he's playing very well indeed.

The idea of striking at the USA and the general free world economy by using China as an unknowing pawn so as to deflect attention from Russia is a true master stroke. It's a plot worthy of Ian Fleming!

This shows all the signs of the culminating few moves of a very, very long game, maybe 20 years.

Putin is dancing the Russian equivalent of a jig!

All this is just conjecture, you understand. Any actual evidence that might exist is well buried.

Do I think this is a "conspiracy"? (If it exists) Hell, no. In the event that it was real it would be a chess game, if anything. And chess games aren't conspiracies.

Do I really believe it? I have no idea. It probably depends on whether anything's been feeding my paranoia between meals.

Actually I didn't go to Woodstock. I was about 75 miles away with the drummer in my college band and his family in Endicott,. but we decided that it looked like waaaay to big a clusterfuck and decided not to go. And, famously, it rained, so we were RIGHT! Or so it seemed.

It was a pretty straight arrow summer. Worked in a factory tying off cable harnesses for the aerospace industry. Kinda screwed up my hands a bit for a couple of months.

As for now, no acid at all, brown or otherwise. My local winery where my band occasionally gigs in better times has a GREAT deal on cases of a very nice 2007 Syrah - for 60% off because they need to make room in the warehouse so I've been having cases delivered, so far once a month.

My lead guitarist shares my house, so we've been working on a bunch of "classic" country and a bit of rockabilly to dump on the band if we ever rehearse again.

He's also getting pretty good at brownies.

I was ribbing ya!

I was too young to drive -- would have had to hitchhike. Which was common back then, but I heard there was 40k people around a lake and I wondered what the big deal was about. It wasn't actually possible to grasp the unprecedented scope of it if you weren't there or hadn't watched the movie.

You couldn't edit the clusterfuck completely out of the movie. How would you even find your abandoned car?

But it was a lot smoother than Altamont or Woodstock '99 where they were charging concert goers $4 for a bottle of water and everyone rioted, looted and burned everything.
