GAS is a terrible one.
Now I'm the proud owner of a pair of early Beyer Soundstar MK II.
They sound great, they have been a deal too good to pass on, but I really don't need them at all...
Now, if I could buy the stuff that actually is on my wish list, that would be great...

Jeebus
If you got a good deal on them I don't see a problem.
If you tire of them you can sell them for what you got them for, maybe a slight profit.
I have bought a couple of cheap condenser mics over the years that have failed while in use. That's a different story.

Yes, Nobby, that's right.
They were a hundred bucks, and that's a steal.
Four digit serial number (not that that really matters, but it's ye olde stuff) and great condition.
OTOH, I really should diversify, when it comes to mic types.
Up to now I stuck to dynamics, as that was a thang in the womb that made sense to me: rather get top tier dynamics than cheap condensers.
But know I have a mic locker consisting mostly of three M88, one M69, the two Soundstars and a 57.
(In Krautistan the Beyer stuff is comparably affordable. You'll get two M88 for the price of one RE20. Plus you can use a M88 for singing on stage without looking silly.)
I've got a DPA 4099, too and some old stuff in flaky conditions that was given to me, when I started out.
The plan is to get a pair of Lineaudio CM3 and one decent LDC in the long run.
I'm not really sure if it makes sense to get the "intermediate" SE 2200a, which seems not to suck too hard, or rather save the bucks and directly aim into Brauner or Gefell territory...
And, yeah.
Get a second 57.

I'm surprised that you don't list a Sennheiser 441 in your collection.
I'd think you could get a good deal them in Germany, no?
They cost $900 USD new in the USA. I bought a used one, probably decades old already with a dent in the grill the exact shape of the tip of a drum stick and a cracked plastic holder (which I electric taped in place around the mic -- now it's one piece) for about $600 several years ago. Still reliable, still sounds great.

Does anybody have experience with the Beyer CK703?
I've been offered a pair of those, with CV 750 bodies.
Should I grab 'em?
